Nvidia Earnings Today: What Its Earnings Will Reveal About AI Bubble Risk

admin

Nvidia reports second-quarter earnings today, after Wall Street’s closing bell, guiding investors to roughly $91 billion in revenue.

The results will show whether AI spending is broadening or narrowing to a handful of buyers. Nvidia trades as the world’s largest company by market value. Its graphics processing units supply most of the compute power behind AI training and inference today.

Customer concentration turns the report into a stress test

Nvidia’s April quarterly filing showed three customers made up 21%, 17%, and 16% of total revenue. Those same three buyers accounted for 64% of accounts receivable combined.

The company began splitting hyperscaler revenue from other data center sales last quarter. Hyperscaler sales grew just 12% sequentially, while revenue from other customers jumped 31% in the same period.

Investors want to see whether that gap widens further today. Faster growth outside the largest cloud providers would ease concern about buyer concentration. It would show fewer buyers do not control Nvidia’s entire data center business.

An earlier earnings preview noted that investors want proof of external demand. Financing that Nvidia extends to its own customers muddies that picture.

Financing deals blur the demand picture

Nvidia recently struck a financing agreement with six Wall Street firms, Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR. The platform is meant to fund more than $500 billion in AI infrastructure. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang framed the strategy in a company release.

“In AI, compute is revenue. NVIDIA compute is uniquely suited for this role.”

That vendor-backed financing model makes it harder for outsiders to separate organic AI demand from deals Nvidia itself helped fund. A related concern already surfaced this month, when NVDA stock fell despite a fresh circular financing deal announcement.

The stakes reach beyond one company’s stock price. A broader sell-off in AI-linked shares last quarter dragged Bitcoin (BTC) sharply lower. Some coverage of that Big Tech sell-off showed how closely crypto now tracks the AI trade.

Nvidia’s forward guidance carries added weight this quarter. The company’s next-generation Rubin platform starts shipping this fall, and executives are likely to face questions about early customer adoption.

Nvidia has warned that shifting between chip architectures can bring revenue swings. Customers may postpone buying the new hardware or adopt it more gradually than Nvidia expects.

Today’s numbers will not settle the AI bubble debate by themselves. But the split between hyperscaler and broader enterprise demand will matter. So will any new detail on financing exposure. Together, they will shape how investors price AI risk next quarter.
